Allbirds expands its market reach, now offering its eco-friendly footwear on Amazon's platform.

"Let's talk Allbirds, folks," you say, adopting a chatty tone. "The fashion realm just got a bit greener with this sustainable brand starting to sell selected items through Amazon. That's right, you can now grab their Tree Runners, Tree Breezers, and more right from the online giant.

Starting November 14, Allbirds can be found throughout Amazon, as confirmed by the email news to Retail Dive. It's a move aimed at meeting customers where they are, offering them a sustainable alternative to what's already out there.

Many shoppers already frequent Amazon for clothing and shoes – both those acquainted with Allbirds and those just discovering the brand. "We aim to grab the market share," Allbirds says. "Some consumers might already know us, while others are about to be introduced to a more eco-friendly, practical footwear option."

As Allbirds continues to grow its distribution network, it's not viewing Amazon as a wholesale partner per se. However, it has been extending its retail reach with partners such as REI, Dick's Sporting Goods Public Lands banner, and Zalando.

Allbirds isn't the only brand hopping on the Amazon bandwagon, either. Companies like Peloton, Our Place, and Care/of have also begun selling there over the last few years.

Recent months have seen Allbirds debuting new footwear models, too. The vintage-inspired shoe, Courier, hit the market in August at $125, while earlier this month, it released an updated version of its first-ever sneaker, the Wool Runner.

Allbirds is going through a makeover amid slumping sales. Its third-quarter earnings this month showed net revenue declined 21.2% year over year to $57.2 million, primarily due to a decline in average selling price driven by promotional activity.

The company's net loss increased by approximately 25% to $31.6 million, and its outlook for the fourth quarter predicts net revenue will decline between 15% and 22%. But fret not, CEO and co-founder Joey Zwillinger says they are ready to launch more innovative assortments during the upcoming year, focusing on their core franchises and updating existing silhouettes."
