Air Canada's A220 Fleet Soars with 13.5M Passengers, 5 More Aircraft Ordered
Air Canada's A220 fleet has proven successful, with nearly 13.5 million passengers flown and over 304,000 hours in the air as of December 1, 2024. The airline has ordered five more A220-300s, bringing its total to 65 aircraft.
Air Canada's A220-300s have been a hit with passengers, operating with 137 seats to over 70 destinations. The Montreal-Austin route has seen particular success. The A220's economic operation and customer popularity have been praised by Air Canada's CFO.
Manufactured in Mirabel near Montreal, the A220 supports the Canadian aerospace industry. As of November 30, 2024, Airbus has received nearly 900 orders for the A220 from 32 customers, with approximately 380 delivered. Worldwide, the A220 is in service with 23 operators, flying on more than 1500 routes to over 460 destinations.
Air Canada's commitment to the A220 continues, with five more aircraft on order. The A220's success has boosted the Canadian aerospace industry and expanded Air Canada's route network economically and popularly.
