Africa's Insurance Leaders Chart Digital Transformation Roadmap at InsurTech Forum 2025

Africa's insurance leaders convened in Nairobi for the InsurTech Forum 2025, advocating for improved digital connectivity and swift adoption of connected data and AI. The forum, attended by over 150 executives, sought to outline a practical roadmap for digital transformation in the African insurance sector.

The event featured keynote speeches, interactive panel discussions, and the Ultimate AI Innovation Challenge for startups. Despite the absence of details on participating companies, the forum underscored the need for insurers to surmount low margins, slow growth, and legacy infrastructure through partnerships and ecosystem approaches.

Looking ahead, the future of health insurance was debated, with interconnected systems, member-centric solutions, ecosystem partnerships, and predictive analytics being key. Currently, only 1% of African insurance operations leverage AI, but this is projected to rise to 80% within five years. Outdated legacy systems, being costly and inefficient, pose a significant hurdle for insurers.

The InsurTech Forum Nairobi 2025 is anticipated to spark partnerships and strategies that will shape the next decade of African insurance. With the pressing need for digital transformation, insurers are urged to embrace connected data and AI to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and expand insurance access across Africa.
