Layin' Low on a Budget? These budget-friendly smartphones kick ass, even if they're under 250 euros
Affordable Smartphone Picks Under €250: Top-Notch Devices for Budget-Conscious Buyers
Pocket change, eh? No worries mate, Stiftung Warentest has got your back if you're after a bangin' budget-friendly smartphone under 250 euros. But remember, even top-notch phones in this league come with a few compromises.
Recently, ntv.de spilled the beans on some surprisingly good smartphones under 400 euros, even packing high-end features in some areas. Sure, that's all well and good, but if you're on a tighter budget, fret not! Stiftung Warentest has come up with eight new phones that'll set you back no more than 250 euros, fresh off the shelves this year or last.
Tech Meets Style: The CMF Phone 2 Pro proves a 250-euro smartphone ain't no joke
Totes, right? New regulations in the EU mean that smartphones released from June 20 onwards must support updates for at least five years. Most manufacturers have already been complying with this for a while now. Three smartphones share the test victory in the 250-euro class, each receiving a quality rating of 2.3.
The Big Three
Motorola Moto G84
Priced at around 253 euros, but available for a steal at about 180 euros, the Moto G84 is like many budget phones, delivering decent performance, but struggles with WLAN and location. The testers awarded it satisfactory grades for basic functions (2.6) and cameras (2.7), but the display (1.6) and handling (2.2) are top-notch, and the battery gets an A++!
Samsung Galaxy A25
Up next is the Samsung Galaxy A25, available for around 215 euros. Its claim to fame is a fantastic screen (1.6), and it delivers good endurance (2.1) in addition to good handling (2.1). While its basic functions (2.6) and stability (2.7) are just average, the cameras are slightly better (2.6).
Telekom T Phone 2 Pro
The Telekom T Phone 2 Pro undercuts the girls with only acceptable cameras (3.2) and a poor selfie cam. But with strong WLAN performance, it boasts good basic functions overall (2.4), and the display (1.6), battery, and handling get a thumbs-up from the testers. The price? Just under 250 euros.
Rollin' on the Rivalry
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo, with an overall score of 2.4, ranks second. But it's the lone entry-level phone on the list with good cameras (2.5), although zoom shots and selfies leave a bit to be desired. While its basic functions (2.6) aren't as strong as the Galaxy A25 and Moto G84, its battery life (2.8) might not float your boat. Lenovo sells the Motorola Edge 40 Neo for around 200 clams.
Grinding it Out: The Motorola Moto G75 is here to fight!
At about 215 euros, the Moto G75 offers satisfactory cameras (2.9), but testers awarded consistent high marks for basic functions (2.1). The display (2.5) and handling are also great, although its face recognition is fooled too easily, so lay low on that if security is a concern. In total, it fetches an overall score of 2.4.
The Budget Champion: Motorola Moto G55
Now, this little number, available for less than 160 euros, still scores an overall rating of 2.5. Its strengths lie in an excellent battery life (1.5) and reasonable handling. However, its biggest weakness is a screen (2.7) and basic functions (2.6) that only deliver average performance, while cameras (3.2) meh.
Cutting Costs, Squeezing into the Top: Samsung Galaxy A16
Also earning an overall rating of 2.5, the Samsung Galaxy A16, available at the same price, doesn't leave much room to complain either. Testers were underwhelmed by the battery (3.3), but it compensates with a notably good display (1.7) and acceptable handling. Camera performance (2.9) and stability are slightly disappointing, but eh, it's a budget phone, fam!
