Activated PoP MIX within Equinix's network infrastructure
In an effort to enhance the user experience for its customers, MIX, Italy's largest Internet Exchange Point (IXP), has announced the launch of a new version of its MIX Customer Portal and the activation of a Point of Presence (PoP) at the ML5 data center in Settimo Milanese.
MIX, a key player in Italy's digital landscape, employs a development strategy focused on improving network performance, reducing latency, and lowering IP-Transit costs. This strategy is designed to cater specifically to content owners and distributors.
The new MIX Customer Portal offers greater control over managing records and improves traffic statistics, providing customers with a more streamlined and efficient experience. The portal enables content owners and distributors to manage their traffic more effectively, ensuring that content is delivered promptly and reliably across different networks.
The PoP at ML5, built by Equinix, allows for connections with ports at 10GE, 100GE, and multiples, thanks to the ability of MIX switches to balance IP traffic in full wire speed mode. This new PoP is particularly beneficial for content owners and distributors, as it joins the existing public peering network coverage in major data centers across Italy.
The PoP in ML5 is served in dual mode to the MIX-IT peering LAN, where over 350 networks are connected with a total capacity exceeding 10 Tbps. To ensure total reliability, customers connecting to the peering LAN through the new PoP will benefit from redundant connections.
MIX's Chairman & Executive President, Alessandro Talotta, has stated that the company continues to invest in the development of Internet interconnection platforms. The development of these platforms is aimed at fostering a virtuous growth path for sector operators.
By offering public peering, MIX allows content owners and distributors to exchange Internet traffic with enhanced network performance. This service optimizes data flow control, ensuring that content reaches end-users efficiently and reliably. The reduced latency and costs associated with MIX's infrastructure help content owners and distributors manage their operational expenses effectively.
MIX also engages with the broader Internet community through events and educational initiatives, fostering a collaborative environment that can benefit content owners and distributors by keeping them informed about network trends and best practices.
Overall, MIX's strategy supports content owners and distributors by providing them with high-performance network services, efficient traffic management, and cost-effective solutions to enhance their operations in Italy and beyond.
The new version of MIX Customer Portal, designed for content owners and distributors, offers enhanced control over data records and improved traffic statistics, providing a streamlined user experience. This portal, along with the activation of a Point of Presence (PoP) at the ML5 data center, contributes to MIX's technology-driven strategy in data-and-cloud-computing, aiming to improve network performance, reduce latency, and lower IP-Transit costs for these specific clients.
