Acquisition of HelloTech by DOOR marks the opening of DOOR Services
In a strategic move to broaden its services, DOOR (formerly Latch) has announced the acquisition of HelloTech, Inc. This deal aims to extend DOOR's offerings beyond tech support services, venturing into the many everyday services residents require.
HelloTech, a service platform specialising in on-demand, last-mile installation, setup, and connected device support, brings a wide range of expertise to the table. From smart home devices and security systems to Wi-Fi networks and entertainment setups, HelloTech's services span a vast array of electronics.
The acquisition, finalised in the third quarter of 2024, has seen DOOR Services provide full-service amenities to multifamily buildings. Residents can now book service providers like dog walkers, house cleaners, and tech support through DOOR Services.
Post-acquisition, DOOR has integrated HelloTech's platform, enabling it to offer installation, setup, and connected device support on demand as part of its new DOOR Services. This integration has created a unified user experience through the DOOR App, which now combines keyless access, smart home functionality, and on-demand service requests into one interface.
DOOR OS, an automation tool, takes care of building management tasks such as move-in configurations, unit setup, and permission management. This expansion leverages technology from both HelloTech and a prior acquisition, Honest Day’s Work, to advance building intelligence and streamline operations for owners, operators, and partners.
Jamie Siminoff, Chief Doorman at DOOR, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, citing HelloTech's expertise in servicing residents across the country and supporting multifamily properties. Micah Stone, previously Latch's Chief Growth Officer, has been promoted to President of DOOR Services, overseeing DOOR Property Management, the JAMES app, future DOOR Services (dog walkers, housekeepers, etc.), and HelloTech.
Greg Steiner, CEO of HelloTech, expressed his support for DOOR's mission to enhance residential living experiences. The integration of HelloTech's operations into DOOR Services is expected to strengthen both companies' capabilities in delivering enhanced home services nationwide.
HelloTech has built a strong reputation for delivering seamless technology installations and support directly to consumers' homes in partnership with major retailers and electronics brands. In the last 12 months, HelloTech has serviced over 100,000 residences. Upon the acquisition's closure, HelloTech will continue to operate as a subsidiary of Latch.
In a separate development, DOOR's property management division, DMP, has introduced JamAlert, a detection device designed to combat the growing threat of illegal cellular signal jammers.
The merged HelloTech platform and technology acquired from Honest Day’s Work will form DOOR Services, marking a significant step forward in DOOR's mission to simplify access to high-quality service providers for residents and streamline operations for property owners and managers.
