Acquisition of Eureka Security by Tenable increases cloud data environment visibility

In a strategic move to bolster its cloud security offerings, Tenable Holdings has announced the acquisition of Eureka Security. Eureka Security, a firm specializing in data security posture management for cloud environments, was founded in 2021.

The acquisition aligns with Tenable’s strategic growth in cloud security solutions, reinforcing its leadership in the cybersecurity market by incorporating cloud-native risk assessment tools from Eureka. The move also reflects successful exits for Eureka, indicating its technology’s value recognized by a prominent cybersecurity firm.

The benefits of this acquisition primarily enhance cloud data security and risk management. By integrating Eureka’s specialized capabilities into Tenable’s broader exposure management platform, Tenable possibly gains advanced tools for detecting and mitigating risks specific to cloud data. This would complement Tenable's existing strengths in exposure management and vulnerability detection.

Eureka Security focuses on cloud security and providing risk visibility across cloud environments. Its technology likely augments Tenable's continuous network monitoring and vulnerability management capabilities, enabling more comprehensive exposure management for complex cloud infrastructures.

The acquisition also strengthens the market position of both companies. With the addition of Eureka's capabilities, Tenable is poised to offer more integrated, robust risk management solutions for cloud environments.

Erik Nost, senior analyst at Forrester, emphasized the need for solutions that provide visibility, prioritization, and remediation for cybersecurity teams. The acquisition of Eureka Security by Tenable Holdings will enable Tenable's customers to better identify risky cloud data and who has access to it, addressing these key requirements.

The terms of the acquisition between Tenable Holdings and Eureka Security were not disclosed. The acquisition follows a series of deals in the cybersecurity industry, such as Palo Alto Networks' acquisition of IBM's QRadar SaaS assets last month and Wiz's acquisition of Gem Security in April.

Liat Hayun, Eureka Security's CEO, and Asaf Weiss, the CTO, are veterans of Palo Alto Networks. YL Ventures led a round of $8 million in seed funding for Eureka Security in 2022. Tenable Holdings reported $798.7 million in revenue in fiscal 2023 and has about 44,000 customers globally.

As Tenable Holdings continues to expand its cloud security solutions, the acquisition of Eureka Security marks a significant step forward in enhancing cloud data security and risk management for its customers.
